For the first time in 18 years, I don’t have a dog to walk.

The sudden death of our precious Kamilla has left a huge void in our lives. When my dog Bubba died more than two years ago, Millie helped lessen the blow. Bubba and I had been together for 15 years and went through a lot of changes, including moving from Thibodaux to Baton Rouge, then to Nashville and finally Murfreesboro. From single life to married life. From newspaperman to  corporate communicator. He was my familiar. Her vet thought it was another urinary infection, which she’d had frequently in her life. Kamilla died in her sleep. That’s the only consolation. She didn’t suffer in death like Bubba and Krista, her predecessor and great-aunt,  did.
